Hi again. We are wrapping up the school year and preparing for the SOL Testing. Wooohoooo! You have practiced on the ePat tests at school and now you can practice at home through our blog. I have added some links that you can browse on the left hand sidebar. Please use them to help you prepare for the testing. There are practice tests and review games available both through this blog and the portaportal. The link to the portaportal is also on the left hand sidebar. Also on the left hand sidebar you will find the SOL schedule for 7th and 8th grade. Have fun!!!!!

We will be writing biographies for Black History Month using the following proceedure.
1. Choose an important African American from history. Make sure your choice contributed something important to society or civil rights.
2. Make your dictionary on CoWriter.
3. Use the graphic organizer given to you by me to organize your paragraphs.
4. Important paragraph topics would be:
A. Why you chose this person. Generally,what was important about what he/she did.
B. Date of birth, place of birth, family information, childhood information and education.
C. Beginnings of career. Important factors in the building of his/her career. You can include barriers as well as assistance he/she encountered.
D. What was the climax of the person’s career or contribution? What are they known for? How does this effect society?
E. If the person is no longer alive, how is he/she remembered? If the person is still alive, what is the opinion of society of this person at this time? Reinforce why you chose this person by stating what this person means to you.
